A little boy sits playing with his toy soldiers The ones that his daddy bought for him He’s too young to understand the price we pay for freedom He still worries about his daddy in a foreign land
Momma said don’t worry everything will be alright While your daddy’s gone keep one thing in mind
(Chorus) You’re my little soldier, Rock steady and strong Keep marching on in the worst of times You’re my little solder brave until the end There’s no medal to award your sacrifice Thank God for the little soldiers in our lives
The months slowly pass and the war is getting longer The letters have stopped coming in Momma see’s a stream a tears rolling down his little cheek She wipes them away with a gentle hand
Momma said don’t worry everything will be alright While your daddy’s gone keep one thing in mind
You’re my little soldier, Rock steady and strong Keep marching on in the worst of times You’re my little solder brave until the end There’s no medal to award your sacrifice Thank God for the little soldiers in our lives
A year has passed and the war is finally over Daddy still hasn’t made it home We received a phone call and momma fell to her knees It was daddy’s voice on the telephone
He said I told you not worry everything would be alright I had my little soldiers watching over me each night
You’re my little soldier, Rock steady and strong You kept marching on in the worst of times You’re my little solder brave until the end There’s no medal to award your sacrifice Thank God for the little soldiers in our lives
