I'm in love with my United States sailor.

I'm in love with my United States sailor.

I'm in love with my United States sailor. I didn't choose to be.
I'm in love with my United States sailor. I live my life among the free.
I proudly stand up next to him for all the world to see.
I married a civilian, who is now a man upon the sea.
For reasons better left unsaid I signed a paper stating:
Until my husbands enlistment is up he will have a military rating.
He goes overseas. He sleeps on a ship. He goes places yet unknown.
He misses seeing his children grow up. His family. His friends. His home.
He has pledged his life to his country. For you to remain free.
I have signed my spouse's papers. So this our life will be.
He is one man among thousands who are committed to doing the same.
One man among so many. Without recognition for their names.
They are the reason we are who we are and the reason behind what we be.
They fight and die for the land of the free and they do it selflessly.
They love their jobs and what they do and look for nothing more.
Than to do what they do and fight for the things so many are fighting for.
Their lives are in your hands, or so sometimes it seems.
As they fight for you they in turn give up, their freedoms, their hopes, their dreams.
I'm in love with my United States sailor. I didn't choose to be.
I'm in love with my United States sailor, I live my life among the free.
I proudly stand up next to him for all the world to see.
He does what he does, and is where he is, so I don't have to be.
